The brief
Since 1906 Geary’s Bakery has been mastering the craft of sourdough and other breads, taking the bakery market by storm. Available in supermarkets all around the country, Geary’s have enjoyed continued success thanks to their innovative approach to high volume production of authentic craft bakery products.
To ensure the growth of Geary’s continued the directors needed to be confident that their production facilities were exceeding hygiene compliance standards. As part of this push for hygiene excellence, the requirement was identified for an additional equipment washroom to be built within the factory.
As Geary’s began to plan their washroom project the directors identified a real risk that if the project wasn’t managed effectively, it would cause serious disruption to production, as the area was within a live production environment. As production runs 24hr, any disruption would have a significant adverse effect on the business, so Geary’s realized that they needed a trustworthy partner to deliver the project.
Our solution
When Geary’s looked at their options for a company to take on this project they knew exactly what they were looking for – risk of downtime must be removed from this project to ensure continued seamless production still occurred. Oakley were pleased to be identified as a competent partner to fulfil this goal, and throughout this project we were able to effectively coordinate the work and the supply of materials resulting in minimum stress for management staff and zero disturbance to production.
When constructing the new washroom, the entire scope of the project was taken care of by Oakley; this included PIR insulated walls and ceilings, LED lighting (including emergency lighting), an extraction system, stainless steel kerbing, resin flooring and channel drainage as well as a hot and cold water supply for sinks and hose reels.
Summary
On completion, the new washroom has transformed Geary’s production facilities, ensuring they retain existing business and giving them further opportunities to win new retailer contracts and grow their brand in the UK.
It was great to work alongside Geary’s to deliver this project, and we look forward to working with them in the future to further grow the Geary’s Bakery brand!
