The brief
Freshview Foods was founded in 2010 by experienced fruit and veg enthusiasts Richard Harrison and Bill Summerscales. Today it has grown into a fleet of over 50 vans delivering to 10 counties from their fresh produce head office in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.
Their rapid growth over the past 10 years forced the company to expand it’s production space and storage, and when the unit next door became available it was the perfect opportunity to make the move for expansion.
Our solution
The Freshview team had previous experience of running expansion projects in-house, and they saw firsthand how unforeseen costs and overrunning timelines can turn a project plan upside down. They realised they needed support from an experienced partner with the expertise to guide them through this big next step to ensure it was done right first time.
We worked closely with Managing Director Craig Walton to kick start the project with a thorough design process to give them confidence that their new facility would be future proofed as well as BRCGS accredited.
With the design phase complete, Oakley supplied a full set of detailed drawings alongside a pricing schedule and timeline for their new exciting project. With this agreed we were ready to begin the construction phase!
After a 6 month project we supplied Freshview with the following…
Ground floor:
- 450m2 ambient despatch room with exterior canopy loading area.
- 90m2 prep despatch fridge
- 80m2 frozen despatch
- 300m2 chiller
- 270m2 freezer
- 280m2 picking room
- 80m2 dairy picking room
- Offices and reception area.
1st floor:
- Erection of a 420m2 mezzanine floor
- Storage area
- Staff toilets and welfare areas.
Summary
It was an absolute pleasure working alongside the Freshview team. By going through the whole process, from design to completion, we were able to deliver this project efficiently and to the program.
