The brief
Baboo Gelato was established in 2015 in the Dorset seaside town of Bridport by a trained gelatiere passionate to create gelato that has a flair for flavour.
To continue manufacturing their signature artisan gelato the owners of Baboo became aware of the need for relocation to a bigger factory in the Dorchester area to keep production levels to a high standard as well as providing sufficient supply to their cafes and pop up kiosks around the south coast.
With a busy manufacturing schedule, the owners of Baboo knew it was not possible to manage ongoing day-to-day operations alongside building their new factory, so they needed a trusted turnkey partner to take care of the whole project, allowing them to focus on running and growing the business.
Our solution
With their company growing fast, Baboo were desperate for more production space, so Oakley came up with an out of the box, innovative approach to expedite the project and get the new factory up and running as soon as possible. A clear project programme was drawn up before commencement of works giving Baboo a clear timeline for completion, and this was rigorously adhered to throughout the duration of the project.
As with all Oakley projects, a dedicated contracts and site manager were running the site at all times to ensure the project was kept on schedule and all works were completed to the highest standard.
The entire factory build was taken care of by Oakley covering design, build and fit-out including a goods in area, washroom, mixing room, ingredients prep area, changing room, ambient store, freezer, picking area, production office, canteen and welfare facilities.
Summary
We thoroughly enjoyed carrying this project out for Baboo and are pleased to handover a world class factory to our client. We’re thrilled to be a part of their exciting growth journey and look forward to seeing them flourish in their new facility!
