The brief
With multiple projects running at the same time, Whitworths found their in-house teams and resources stretched to the limit.
Our client had past experience of running these type of projects in-house and they understood how many risks and unforeseen circumstances can turn a project plan upside down. This meant the projects that were being dealt with in-house typically went over budget, and delays for materials and labour came about due to a lack of a design and planning process.
With Whitworths experiencing rapid business growth, they couldn’t afford to risk having another bumpy project experience, and knew they needed to bring in an experienced partner to take on the whole process.
Our solution
Oakley came in to relieve the stress and distraction that these multiple projects were bringing by overseeing the design and build of their new chocolate coating facility from start to finish.
Our process enabled the team at Whitworths to step back and focus on core business operations without the worry of material/labour delays and unforeseen costs spiraling.
We supported our client right through from the design and planning phase to fit out and completion. As this project took place within Whitworths’ current manufacturing facility, we wanted to ensure that the space was maximised and the design was well thought out to enable greater efficiency to their production.
Our design team worked with Whitworths to complete a detailed design pack with a full set of drawings alongside a fixed cost for the project. We could then begin the construction phase of the project, overseeing all elements of work allowing the team at Whitworths to step away from the project knowing it was in safe and experienced hands.
Project elements included:
- Resin flooring
- White walling
- Roller and pedestrian doors
- Barriers and protection
- Mechanical and electrical
Summary
It was a pleasure to work with Whitworths on this new production line. This project highlighted how valuable and critical a thorough design process is, to ensure a project of this nature is carried out without disruption or unforeseen costs and delays.
