The brief
AG Barr, a well-renowned drinks canning and bottling manufacturer in the UK looked to bring in a partner for the extension of their production facility.
Quickly realising in the planning process they didn’t have the resource to carry out this project in-house, AG Barr looked for a reliable and experienced partner to take on this project to ensure day-to-day operations weren’t interrupted.
Our solution
Oakley came in to take the distraction away from our client’s operations team by overseeing the design and build of this new barrel handling facility from start to finish.
Our process enabled the team at AG Barr to step back and focus on core business operations without the stress of keeping this project to the schedule and budget set out in the planning and design phases.
We supported our client right through from the design phase to fit out and completion. This project involved an extension of AG Barr’s current production facility, providing a barrel handling facility for drinks which are then bottled and canned before going out to major retailors. This meant the project had to be meticulously planned to ensure day-to-day production operations weren’t affected and the project was carried out under strict health and safety requirements.
Our design team worked with AG Barr to complete a detailed design pack with a full set of drawings alongside a fixed cost for the project. We could then begin the construction phase of the project, overseeing all elements of work allowing the team at AG Barr to step away from the project knowing it was in safe and experienced hands.
The new facility included a flavour decanting room and a barrel airlock with elements of work including:
- Underground drainage and resin flooring
- White walling
- Supply and installation of stainless steel kerbs and bollard protection
- Fitting of external cladding
- Installation of a new washroom
- Installation of speed roll and PIR doors
- Installation of AC and air handling
- Upgrading incoming electrical mains and 2nd fix electrical
Summary
It was a pleasure to collaborate with AG Barr on this extension project. This project highlighted how valuable our turnkey process is, to ensure our client could step away from the project and avoid distraction to the day-to-day running of their production.
