The brief
The Ice Co Storage & Logistics is one of the UK’s leading cold chain operators, offering temperature controlled storage and distribution from four sites across the country.
Alongside their existing industry leading services, our client needed to innovate and expand their offering, to ensure their service remained the best in the industry. The Ice Co team identified an opportunity to serve a new sector – food and drink businesses that are looking for flexible chilled and frozen storage pods on a monthly rental basis, providing flexibility to suit changing business needs.
Spare building space was available within the group and the Store Pod concept was born!
Our solution
Our client was looking for a capable partner that really grasped the vision and could deliver the project on time and within budget. The chosen solution also needed to have minimum input from the Ice Co team so as not to impact day to day business functions.
We were excited to be chosen to bring this ground-breaking concept to life. Firstly we took The Ice Co’s initial design ideas and our design department produced life-like visual 3D renders to help visualize the layout of the space, the flow and specification of finishes throughout the building.
In delivering the project, Oakley’s turn-key approach was a perfect fit for The Ice Co’s needs, as we took care of the entire project from strip out to handover. This not only meant absolutely minimal disruption to the clients core business activity, but also removed any risk for The Ice Co, as Oakley provided full scope of works and fixed cost for the entire project up front, ruling out the worry of being hit with unforeseen costs further into the project.
Summary
Through meticulous planning and organisation we delivered this project on time and to the highest standard possible with no detail being overlooked. It was a real pleasure to see this project through to completion and be a part of the Ice Co’s ongoing story of success!
